Inmate Scholarship Program Deadline Nearing

Inmate Scholarship Program Deadline Nearing

By Jeremy Gordon
The Law Office of Jeremy Gordon is very different than most other organizations that work with federal prisoners. We are different because we care deeply and genuinely about the plight of the federal prison population. We are also different because we believe in the importance of giving back to our community. Who is our community? The answer may surprise some, but it is each and every one of you. All federal prisoners.
Thus, it is with great pleasure that the Law Office of Jeremy Gordon offers its “Commitment to Change” college scholarship. Through this scholarship, one lucky person will receive free tuition and books covering one three-credit semester hour college course from Adams State University, an accredited U.S. university that offers Associate, Bachelor, and Master level degrees to the incarcerated. The scholarship is awarded four times a year via a contest.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you MUST meet the following criteria: (1) Be incarcerated in federal prison; (2) Have a GED or high school diploma; (3) Not already possess a Bachelor’s degree; and (4) submit a recorded piece of spoken word poetry, not longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds by calling 972-483-4865 and asking for Chris. Chris will record your telephone call in order to capture your entry. Be prepared to state your name, inmate number, and the title of your poetry piece once the recording has been activated. The piece of spoken word poetry must relate to your incarceration and how it has affected you and/or your loved ones. ABSOLUTELY NO PROFANITY is permitted in your entry. The last day for entries is Tuesday, December 31, 2013.
Additional Rules and Disclaimers:
Scholarship contest entrants must mail a copy of their poetry piece to the address below in addition to making a recorded entry. All copies must be legible and postmarked by December 31, 2013.
By submitting an entry for the scholarship, you authorize the Law Office of Jeremy Gordon to record your telephone call and publish your entry and name via the World Wide Web and other means. The winner of the contest will be announced via TRULINCS. All scholarship funds will be remitted directly to Adams State University with your class enrollment form. No funds will be paid to the winner.
NO E-MAILS WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST WILL BE ANSWERED. PLEASE READ THE RULES. Further, the Law Office of Jeremy Gordon reserves the right to alter the parameters or operation of the scholarship program as it deems appropriate.
GOOD LUCK!
