Atlanta USP
United States Penitentiary, Atlanta is a medium-security federal prison located in the Georgia state capital of Atlanta. Housing male inmates, the facility also contains a minimum-security satellite prison camp for male offenders and a detention center. One of the oldest federal prisons, it opened in 1902 and continues to provide those incarcerated with educational, vocational, and self-improvement programs. It also serves as housing for inmates being transferred from one federal facility to another.
Atlanta Prison Camp
United States Penitentiary, Atlanta prison camp is a satellite facility located on the grounds of USP Atlanta. Inmates in this minimum-security prison camp, all of whom are male, perform work duties to support the correctional facility and are not subject to the more stringent security procedures of higher security federal prisons. All inmates may pursue educational and enrichment goals to increase the odds of a successful release and reintegration into outside society. Inmates must perform prison work assignments unless medically excused.
