Bastrop FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Bastrop, located eight miles north of the city of Bastrop and 30 miles east of Austin, is a low-security facility for male inmates. It also contains an adjacent satellite prison camp for nonviolent male prisoners. As a Medical Care Level 2 prison, it meets the needs of inmates who are generally in good health but with chronic conditions such as epilepsy and medication-controlled diabetes that require regular clinical evaluation. All inmates at FCI Bastrop must have a job and may participate in self-improvement and educational/vocational programs.

Beaumont USP

United States Penitentiary Beaumont, located on the premises of the Beaumont Federal Correctional Complex, is in Jefferson County near the town of Beaumont, Texas approximately 100 miles east of Houston. This high-security institution serves male inmates and has more internal controls and security precautions than the other Texas federal prisons, including those in the complex. All inmates serving time here have the opportunity to pursue academic, vocational, and self-improvement programs. All inmates must have a job and can spend their wages at the prison commissary.

Beaumont Medium FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Beaumont Medium, located on the premises of the Beaumont Federal Correctional Complex, is in Jefferson County near the town of Beaumont, Texas approximately 100 miles east of Houston. This medium-security institution serves male inmates, which are housed in 12 units. All inmates are required to hold prison jobs. Many inmates work in the facility’s UNICOR textile factory. Beaumont Low FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Beaumont Low, located on the premises of the FCC Beaumont, is in Jefferson County near the town of Beaumont, Texas. The prison is approximately 100 miles east of Houston. This low-security institution and the adjacent minimum-security prison camp both house male inmates. Although restrictions and security precautions are not as stringent at FCI Beaumont Low as they are in the high-security USP Beaumont or the medium-security facility, inmates may still take academic and vocational courses and must maintain a prison job throughout their incarceration.

Big Spring FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Big Spring, located midway between Dallas and El Paso in Big Spring, Texas, is a low-security prison for male inmates. Adjacent to it is a minimum-security satellite camp, also for male offenders. Like all other offenders in federal prisons in Texas and nationally, those incarcerated at FCI Big Spring must participate in educational, vocational, and self-improvement programs. In addition, they must work regular hours at a prison job.

Big Spring CI

Correctional Institution Big Spring (Flightline), located in Big Spring, Texas in Howard County between Dallas and El Paso, is a low-security prison for male inmates with an adjacent minimum-security prison camp that also serves male offenders. A private prison operated by the GEO Group, it is on the grounds of the Big Spring Correctional Center. While incarcerated, inmates have access to literacy, academic, and vocational opportunities. Substance abuse support and enrichment programs are also available to the inmate population. All prisoners are assigned to a prison job and must perform their work detail unless medically excused.

Bryan FPC

Federal Prison Camp Bryan, located 95 miles northwest of Houston and 165 miles south of Dallas in Bryan, Texas, is a minimum-security prison camp for female inmates. Because the female offenders incarcerated there are deemed nonviolent and are typically serving out relatively short sentences, the emphasis is placed on attaining work, vocational training, and self-improvement goals. Carswell FMC

Fort Worth FMC

Federal Medical Center Fort Worth, located in Tarrant County in Fort Worth, Texas, is an administrative federal medical facility serving male inmates of all security levels with physical and mental health needs. Opened in 1971, it was previously a U.S. Public Health Service facility. Inmates at the facility have access to GED, ESL, and Adult Continuing Education programs. Prisoners have access to both indoor and outside recreation opportunities, with a special holistic health focus.

Giles W. Dalby CI

Correctional Institution Giles W. Dalby, located in Post, Texas in Garza County, is a private prison operated by Management and Training Corporation. It is a low-security facility serving male inmates, many of which are deportable aliens. Housing approximately 1,600 inmates, the facility offers GED and ESL classes to the inmate population.

Houston FDC

Federal Detention Center Houston, located in downtown Houston, Texas near Minute Maid Park, is an administrative-level detention facility for both male and female detainees of all security statuses. Detainees at this facility are generally awaiting trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The building has 11 stories. Detainees are not typically housed here for extended periods of time. Depending on the outcome of the trial, detainees are usually either released or transferred to another federal prison.

La Tuna FCI

Federal Correctional Institution La Tuna, located in El Paso County near Anthony, Texas, is a low-security prison serving male inmates. It is on the New Mexico border 12 miles north of El Paso. Adjacent to the facility is a minimum-security federal prison camp for nonviolent male inmates. Rules and internal controls at both the low-security and camp facilities are more relaxed than inmates experience at medium- or high-security federal prisons in Texas. All men incarcerated at both of these facilities must obey the rules, pursue educational and vocational goals, and participate in self-enrichment courses to maximize the chances of a successful release.

La Tuna FSL

Federal Satellite Low La Tuna is located in El Paso County in Fort Bliss, Texas near Anthony. It serves male inmates, many of whom are detainees being held by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Inmates at FSL La Tuna have access to both indoor and outdoor recreation. Offerings include weightlifting, horseshoes, a running track, and basketball. Inmates also have access to an institutional commissary where they can purchase various food, clothing, electronic, over-the-counter medication, and other personal items.

Reeves 1 & 2 CI

Correctional Institution Reeves 1 and 2 are immigration detention facilities located in the Reeves County Detention Complex three miles southwest of Pecos, Texas in Reeves County. Opened in 1986 and operated by the GEO Group, CI Reeves 1 and 2 serve male offenders, most of whom have sentences of between one and five years and are incarcerated primarily due to drug or immigration offenses. The majority face deportation upon their release.

Reeves DC

Detention Center Reeves is a low-security detention facility for male inmates located in the Reeves County Detention Complex three miles southwest of Pecos, Texas in Reeves County. The offenders held here only stay for a short time as they await federal trial or serve out the brief remainder of their sentences. Inmates have access to GED, Adult Basic Education, and ESL classes.

Seagoville FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Seagoville is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The facility and the adjoining satellite prison camp are designated for male inmates. The site is a former detention center that held people classified as “enemy aliens” during World War II. Inmates at both the camp and the low-security prison must obtain prison employment and can use the money they make in the facility’s commissary. They must also pursue their GED if they do not have a high school diploma and can participate in vocational and self-improvement programs and classes. Due to being designated a Sex Offender Management Program Facility, approximately 40 percent of the inmate population is incarcerated for either a current or past sexual offense.

Texarkana FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Texarkana is located in Bowie County near Texarkana, Texas. It is close to the Arkansas border 70 miles north of Shreveport, Louisiana, and 175 miles east of Dallas. The facility also contains an adjoining minimum-security satellite prison camp for nonviolent male inmates. Those incarcerated at the FCI and the camp must hold jobs and may take academic and/or vocational and enrichment classes designed to improve their lives and maximize their chances of success in the outside world upon their release.

Three Rivers FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Three Rivers, located in Live Oak County near Three Rivers, Texas, is situated 80 miles south of San Antonio and 70 miles northwest of Corpus Christi, Texas. This medium-security facility serves male inmates as does an adjacent minimum-security satellite prison camp. At the camp, inmates are primarily incarcerated for nonviolent crimes and are either serving shorter sentences or otherwise finishing longer sentences. As for inmates in all Texas federal prisons and nationwide, inmates may pursue educational and self-improvement goals.
