Federal Correctional Institution Bennettsville is located in northeastern South Carolina in Marlboro County near the town of Bennettsville. It is about 70 miles from Myrtle Beach and 100 miles from the state capital of Columbia. This medium-security facility serves male inmates, as does the adjacent minimum-security satellite camp. As is the case nationally and in other South Carolina federal prisons, inmates must attain their GED if they do not have a high school diploma. In addition, they must hold down a prison job and participate in life skills education and self-improvement courses while incarcerated.

Bennettsville Prison Camp

Federal Correctional Institution Bennettsville is located in northeastern South Carolina in Marlboro County near the town of Bennettsville. It is about 70 miles from Myrtle Beach and 100 miles from the state capital of Columbia. This minimum-security WORK CAMP serves male inmates, as does the adjacent MEDIUM-security correctional institution. Those living here are nonviolent and generally only have a few years remaining on their sentences. They live in dormitory-style housing and are expected to do work that supports the facility, in addition, to taking life skills and education courses.

Edgefield FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Edgefield is located in Edgefield County, South Carolina, about 25 miles north of Augusta, Georgia. This medium-security facility houses male inmates and contains a minimum-security work camp, also for male offenders. As is the case with other federal prisons in South Carolina, FCI Edgefield requires everyone incarcerated there to hold down a job and pursue educational and vocational goals. In the past, members of the local community have assisted those interested in learning the fundamentals of business development. The goal is to increase offenders’ knowledge and skills to maximize their chances of successful reintegration into society upon their release.

Edgefield Prison Camp

Federal Correctional Institution Edgefield Camp is located in Edgefield County, South Carolina, about 25 miles north of Augusta, Georgia. This minimum-security camp lies adjacent to a medium-security correctional facility—both house male offenders. The camp features fewer rules and security restrictions and dormitory-style housing units. Nevertheless, those incarcerated there must work and are required to take academic and life skills improvement courses.

Estill FCI

Federal Correctional Institution Estill, located in Hampton County, South Carolina, in the town of Estill, is a medium-security facility and adjoining minimum-security satellite camp for male offenders. It is approximately 50 miles north of Savannah, Georgia, and 95 miles south of the state capital of Columbia, South Carolina. Like everyone serving time in South Carolina federal prisons, inmates here must pursue educational and life skills goals and are required to have prison jobs. The money they earn from work can be used in the prison commissary, which offers nonessential food and consumer items.

Estill Prison Camp
